He was born in Konya in 1987. He completed his primary education in Istanbul and secondary and high school education in Konya. He entered the Turkish Music Conservatory of the Haliç University in 2005 and graduated in 2009. He took courses from Prof. Dr. Alaaddin Yavaşça, Prof. Erol Deran and Prof. Mutlu Torun during his conservatory years. As he had the opportunity to have a relation with Mevlevî culture since childhood, he first took sama training from his teacher samazan Abdurrahman Abukan. He participated in Mevlevî rites as neyzen during his education on ney in the conservatory. He started the ney instrument with the guidance of his father M. Sadreddin Özçimi, one of the representatives of the Neyzen Niyazi Sayın school and artist in the Ministry of Culture Research and Application Ensemble. Later he took courses from Ahmet Şahin, one of the representatives of the same school and worked with neyzen Burcu Karadağ during his school years. Currently doing his master's degree at the Turkish Music Conservatory of the Haliç University, Yasin Özçimi continues his album works with tanbûrî Hakkı Özçimi, who is working at the Bursa State Classic Turkish Music Choir. He also continues to give concerts in many provinces throughout the country, under the project entitled "There Is Only Music", by making a synthesis against the classic and folk music separation of Turkish Music, with diwan instrument and shah ney duet, together with Coşkun Karademir, who is also a baglama artist. He has performed together with many esteemed masters of our music. They include Neyzen Sadreddin Özçimi, tanbûrî Özer Özel, kanûnî Prof. Erol Deran, ûdi Prof. Mutlu Torun, neyzen Ahmed Şahin, neyzen Salih Bilgin, tanbûrî neyzen and Dr. Murat Salim Tokaç.
He is currently working as ney instructor at the İsmek Hasanpaşa Music Specialization Center and since 2011 at the Biksad Art Workshop. Having represented Turkish Music in many countries and cities through many concerts and programs, Yasim Özçimi continues his works in various branches of Turkish Music.
He participated as guest neyzen and samazen at the sama session organized every year in Konya on the occasion of Şeb-i Aruz.
He was among the 6 young samazens whose coins were prayed with takbir at the beginner’s mukabele, organized for the first time after 150 years, in 2001.
He participated as samazen in the 729th Holiness Mevlânâ Commemoration Meeting Program organized at the Afyon Kocatepe Mosque in 2002.
He participated as samazen in the 730th Holiness Mevlânâ Commemoration Meeting Program organized at the Afyon Kocatepe Mosque in 2003.
He participated as neyzen in the Mevlevî Mukabele, in the project organized by the Cyprus Near Eastern University, in all universities in Cyprus in 2005.
In 2005 he participated as neyzen in the Mevlevî Mukabele at the opening of the Cyprus Mevlevi Lodge.
He participated as samazen at the Mevlânâ Symposium organized by the Fatih University in 2005.
He represented Turkey as samazan in the 2005 EXPO Fair, organized in Japan in 2005.
He participated as samazan in the Holiness Alvarlı Efe commemoration night, organized at the CRR in 2006.
He participated as neyzen in the 2007, Konya Mystic Music Festival, the Nights of Neyzens.
He gave a recital with tanbûrî Hakkı Özçimi at the venue “Nağmedar” of the Zeytinburnu Municipality in 2007.

He participated as neyzen in the Mevlid symposium organized by the Bursa Provincial Mufti Office in 2007.

In 2008 he participated in all episodes of the "Thought Climate" program prepared and presented by Kenan Gürsoy on TRT.
During the month of Ramadan in 2009, he participated in auditions and concerts in various Balkan countries, under the project entitled "Brotherhood Knows No Bounds" and "Victory Path", organized by the Bayrampaşa Municipality.
He participated as artistic director and neyzen in the events "Ethiopia Turkish Day", upon the invitation of the Ethiopian Embassy in 2009.
In 2009 he participated as neyzen in the “Makam-ı Hüseyin” on TRT.
In 2010 he participated as neyzen in various cities in the "40 Ney 1 Nefes" (40 Neys and 1 Breath) project organized with the participation of 40 leading neyzens of Turkey.
In 2010 he participated in the auditions "Katip Çelebi Symposium", as the guest of the Vatican Embassy.
He participated as neyzen in the "Mevlevî Rites" project, organized for expatriates in 2010.
In 2010 he carried out album works with International World Music French artist Titi Robin.
In 2011 he participated as neyzen in the “ Enderun’dan Mızıka-i Hümâyûn” (From Enderun to the Imperial Orchestra), the opening concert of the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall.
In 2012 he participated as neyzen to the “Yeditepenin Sadâsı” (Echoes of the Seven Hills) concert organized by the Bursa State Choir.
In 2012 he participated as neyzen in the “Temâşâ-i Ramazan” (Ramadan Performance) concerts organized by the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality.
In 2012 he participated as neyzen in the month of Ramadan "Iftar Time" program on TRT Avaz television.
